collaborative living

What is it?

It includes high levels of resident participation in creating  a supportive and sustainable living arrangement. At it's core is the establishment of reciprocal relationships, mutual help and solidarity.   It's foundation is based on loving our neighbors as we love ourselves.

How does it work?

Residents enjoy the privacy of their own room with the option of participating in activities and experiences such as shared meals and camping trips. Each resident offers their gifts and talents in support of one another.  Basic household responsibilities are shared so all can enjoy a safe and clean space to thrive.

What does it cost?

Private rooms range from  $400-600 per month. Utilities are shared.  Fair trade exchanges (child care, creative projects, etc) are arranged between residents.  Agreements can be made per month or yearly lease.  There is a $35 application fee to cover the cost of the credit and background checks.

What are the benefits?

  • Being connected with others in a meaningful way.
  • A sense of belonging,
  • Feeling valued and appreciatied for your contribution.
  • Growing and developing in a safe, and supportive space.

What are the risks?

Though your privacy will be respected, you won't be able to live like a hobbit.  We will be building quiet spaces,  but you will need to be at ease with the sounds of other adults and children throughout the day.  It will be expected that you make yourself available for monthly meetings and engage with others in the community in a respectful, loving way.
